About the Briefing
As part of its ongoing collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), ICC is pleased to host an exclusive online briefing with Mr Máximo Torero Cullen, Chief Economist of FAO, in preparation for the Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum 2026, which will take place in FAO Headquarters, Rome from 13 to 16 October 2026.
The briefing session will provide a unique opportunity for ICC member companies worldwide to engage directly with FAO, and explore how the private sector can play a greater role in supporting sustainable agrifood systems transformations in emerging and developing markets.
ICC and FAO collaboration
Since 2020, ICC has been working closely with FAO to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between the private sector and international institutions. This continuous exchange has helped ensure that private sector perspectives contribute to discussions on food security, agricultural development and investment opportunities. In this framework the HIH Initiative Investment Forum, FAO provides a platform to explore and facilitate co-investments between the Public Sector, Private Sector, Development Financial Institutions, and Philanthropy entities
The upcoming session with Mr Máximo Torero Cullen is intended not only as a briefing ahead of the Hand-in-Hand Initiative Investment Forum, but also as an opportunity for companies to share their perspectives, contribute to shaping a stronger framework for collaboration between FAO and the private sector.
The session will be moderated by Ercole de Vito, ICC External Engagement Lead for Agri-Food, who has been leading ICC’s engagement with FAO and the Rome-based UN agencies through the ICC AgriFood Initiative.
